Halloween party chocolate treat ideas for adults or kids!
So now that most of us don’t have to worry about bathing suit shopping anytime soon, we can focus on other, more delicious things. Namely, Halloween candy. More specifically (and if you love chocolate as much as I do), chocolate Halloween candy. And what better way to welcome this holiday in all its tantalizing, terrifying glory, than to try out some scare-riffic Halloween chocolate recipes?
Take a trip down any grocery store aisle these days, and you’ll likely be bombarded by all things Halloween. Orange-cream-filled Oreos, candy-corn-flavored M&M’s, 20-pound bags of different confectionary delights to pass out to the neighborhood urchins. Sometimes it’s hard not to grab a few bags under the guise of “getting your Halloween candy shopping early to beat the rush.” But let’s not kid ourselves. How many of us end up at least getting into the candy bag ourselves (and sometimes polishing off the whole thing before we’ve even carved our pumpkins)?
Perhaps you’re one of those uber-creative people who likes to assemble your creative surprises for your trick-or-treaters. Or maybe you are a bah-humbug kind of person. The kind who turns off all the lights and hides in the dark recesses of your den, watching Michael Myers marathons and ignoring the persistent dings the doorbell. You still have to admit that Halloween is almost impossible to avoid. But fear not! You can enjoy all the more refined, decadent elements of the holiday that seems to cater only to little ankle-biters dressed as Disney characters.
So whether you embrace Halloween or eschew it, we’ve got some ideas and recipes to suit everyone’s taste! Read on to discover some of our favorite ideas for your next Halloween party, fall festival, or to give out to those rascally youngsters to keep them from thoughtfully decorating your house with eggs and toilet paper. Or to hoard and gobble up all by yourself. Alone. In the dark. No one can judge you if they don’t know! Mwwwhhhaaaaaahhaaaaa!
- 12 Oreos
- White chocolate candy coating/White chocolate candy melts
- Black Edible Marker
- Lollipop Sticks
- Black Ribbon
- Baking Sheet lined with Foil
- Melt the candy melts according to package directions. Pour into a short glass.
- Add a dab of chocolate to the end of the lollipop stick and stick a lollipop stick into the cream filling of each Oreo. Lay Oreo pops onto the foil-lined baking sheet.
- Stick into the freezer for 1 minute. (This step is optional, but it helped me keep the Oreos on the Stick)
- Remove Oreo pops from freezer.
- Dip the Oreos into the white chocolate one at a time. Covering each one and tapping off the excess chocolate. Place back onto the foil lined baking sheet.
- Place into the fridge for 5 minutes or until chocolate is hard.
- Remove Oreo pops from the refrigerator.
- Using an edible marker, draw Jack Skellington’s face onto each pop. If you have trouble with the marker drying out while you’re drawing the faces, lightly wet a paper towel and press the tip of the marker onto the wet paper towel and then continue to draw the faces.
- Tie on Jack’s bow to finish the pops.
Sweet and salty, crunchy munchies! With silly candy eyeballs staring back at you, this Haunted Mansion Screaming Pretzels Recipe Idea will both entertain and satisfy any sweet tooth. Add these homemade pretzels to treat bags for delightful DIY party favors or put them in a dish for Halloween party guests to enjoy.
- Melt the chocolate candy melts according to the directions on the package, adding a small amount of vegetable oil to the mixture for easy dipping.
- Dip the pretzels into the candy melts, coating both sides. Place the pretzel on waxed paper making sure the bottom section of the pretzel is not filled with chocolate.
- Insert melted chocolate into the top two sections of the pretzel. Place a candy eyeball into the top two sections. Allow to set until firm.
A perfect blend of dark and white chocolate, this spooky treat is sure to please the scariest chocoholic at your next party!
- 6 quality bars of dark chocolate
- 3 quality bars of white chocolate
- Assorted sprinkles (optional)
- 8×8 baking dish lined with plastic wrap
- 2 piping bags or plastic baggies
- In a microwave safe bowl, melt 3 bars of dark chocolate using 10-second increments and stirring between each heating.
- Spread melted chocolate evenly in baking dish. (If you’d like to add any candy or cookie pieces to give your candy bark a little something extra, now would be the time to do that.) Refrigerate the dark chocolate until hard.
- In another microwave, safe bowl, heat two bars of white chocolate and spread it over your first layer of chocolate. Refrigerate again until the white chocolate has hardened.
- Melt the final 3 bars of dark chocolate and 1 bar of white chocolate in two separate bowls.
- Spoon a little bit of the dark chocolate into a piping bag or plastic baggie, and spread the rest over the hardened candy bark.
- Spoon all of the white chocolate into another piping bag or baggie. While the final layer of chocolate is still warm, start creating ghosts by piping circles of white chocolate. Using a pointy object like a toothpick or a meat thermometer, draw one end of each loop out to create a tail.
- Using the dark chocolate in the piping bag, add eyes and mouths. Add some festive sprinkles or leave the top as it is!
A dessert dip that tastes like a decadent chocolate cheesecake. Topped with crunchy chocolate cookie “dirt” and vanilla cookie “tombstones,” this easy recipe is the perfect Halloween treat.
INGREDIENTS FOR DIP
- 1 package cream (8 ounces) cheese, at room temperature
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 5 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 2 cups, plus 2 tablespoons sifted powdered sugar
INGREDIENTS FOR DECORATIONS
- Crushed chocolate cream sandwich cookies, enough to cover the dip (about 10)
- Vanilla sandwich cookies, such as Milano’s
- Black decorating icing
- Candy corn and pumpkins
- Graham crackers, apple slices, and/or pretzels, for serving
- In a medium bowl, beat together cream cheese and butter until smooth.
- Sift in cocoa powder, then add brown sugar, vanilla extract, salt, and milk. Beat on low speed until the cocoa powder is incorporated, then increase speed to high, until very well combined.
- Sift in powdered sugar, 1/2 cup at a time, beating slowly after each addition to incorporate. Increase speed to high and beat until smooth and light, about 3 minutes.
- Transfer dip to a serving dish and smooth top with a spatula.
- Spread crushed chocolate cookies over the top of dip to form “dirt.”
- With decorating icing, write “RIP” on vanilla wafer cookies, then stand upright in the dip to create “tombstones.”
- Scatter candy corn and candy pumpkins over the top to decorate. Serve with graham crackers, sliced apples, and/or pretzels as desired.
