But we’ve found a way for you to indulge yourself and any fellow chocoholics you know: Halloween Hot Chocolate.

Just picture yourself, wrapped in a blanket after a long day, cold autumn rain beating on your windows, fire crackling and sending shadows dancing across your living room. And a steaming mug of pumpkin pie hot chocolate warming your hands. Or maybe your idea of getting into the season of all things creepy is a Halloween party, where candy corn-flavored hot chocolate flows like wine, and you win a prize for Most Original Costume (thank you, Pinterest!).

Whatever raises your hair this season, these recipes have it all–Halloween colors, Halloween flavors, even fun Halloween garnishes to top of your perfect mug of haunted heaven. From the simplest ingredients to the most daring and decadent decorations, we’ve collected some killer recipes for Halloween hot chocolate that are sure to terrorize your taste buds. Slow Cooker Halloween Hot Chocolate

To Decorate:

  • Icing
  • Halloween sprinkles
  • Whipped cream


  1. In a 3-quart or larger slow cooker add milk, heavy cream, vanilla, candy corn (or the orange food coloring) and white chocolate wafers.
  2. Cover and cook on low for 2 to 2 ½ hours, stirring occasionally until mixture is hot and chocolate wafers are melted.
  3. Stir again before serving.
  4. Ladle into mugs and garnish with whipped cream and sprinkles.
  5. Enjoy!

Because after a long night of trick-or-treating in the cold, who doesn’t want to warm up to something soo much yummier than gummy candy shaped like body parts? Leave that stuff to the kiddos (much to the delight of their pediatric dentists), and end your night with this warm and creamy white chocolate treat!


  • 12 ounces of high-quality white chocolate bar
  • 8 C milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • orange food color, green food color
  • edible googly eyes
  • sprinkles
  • whip cream


  1. Chop white chocolate bar and place into a bowl.
  2. Heat milk over medium heat until bubbles begin to form.
  3. Pour over chocolate.
  4. Stir until chocolate is melted and milk is smooth
  5. Add in vanilla and desired food coloring. Mix well.
  6. Pour into mug and serve with whip cream and sprinkles

Blood-Red Hot Chocolate




  1. Place chocolate in a medium heatproof bowl and set aside.
  2. Bring milk and sugar to a simmer in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring until sugar dissolves, about 7 minutes.
  3. Pour over chocolate, and let stand.
  4. When chocolate begins to melt, stir until combined.
  5. Whisk in food coloring.
  6. Serve immediately with marshmallows, or if you want to get extra Halloween-y, marshmallow bones.

Well, don’t worry your pretty head, because we’ve also found recipes for Halloween hot chocolate that’s all grown up. And don’t be afraid to experiment on your own! There are dozens of delicious options to dress up your drink. One flavor that is the perfect blend of autumn spices is Rumchata. It works in just about any recipe for hot chocolate you can dream up! You can also try out flavored spirits (whipped cream, vanilla, even chili pepper will marry well with your hot chocolate), bourbon, Bailey’s, and Kahlua.
So if you’re a fan of (red)rum, or perhaps some flavored vodka is more your style, here are a few more yummy treats that are sure to please any devil looking for a ghoulishly good time.

Spiked Hot Chocolate

  • 12 ounces whole milk
  • 4 ounces half and half
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup and 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • 2 ounces spiced rum or marshmallow vodka
  • Mini marshmallows, for garnish


  1. In a saucepan, warm the milk, half and half, and cinnamon stick.
  2. Once the mixture is heated, remove the cinnamon stick, add the unsweetened cocoa powder and powdered sugar, and whisk until smooth.
  3. Remove from heat, and add the rum or vodka.
  4. Divide between two mugs, and top with a few marshmallows.

And finally, if you’ve ever wondered what would happen if fall’s signature dessert married our ultimate favorite drink, we’ve got your answer. Not only would the wedding be beautiful (who doesn’t love a pumpkin pie dressed to the nines?) but their children would taste amazing! And don’t forget the special ingredient: pumpkin pie liqueur. We’ve gone with Fulton’s Harvest Pumpkin Pie Liqueur, but feel free to branch out on your own with this one. The results will be no less to-die-for!

Pumpkin Pie Hot Chocolate

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2  cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3.5 ounces white chocolate, roughly chopped
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin pie liqueur
  • pinch salt


  1. Place all ingredients except for liquor in a medium saucepan and cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly.  
  2. Once the ingredients have thoroughly combined, and chocolate has melted, add liqueur.
  3. Pour into mugs and serve!

Whether you like your hot chocolate sweet and innocent, or daring and adult, you deserve to take the time to savor whatever new concoction you create.
